CAIRO – 19 March 2022: Egypt’s Ministry of Health said on Saturday that the average number of daily coronavirus infections and deaths has hit 788 and 12 respectively this week.
In a statement, the ministry said the average number of daily recoveries reached 766 people after they received the required medical care, recording a total of 430,198 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.
The number of people who are fully vaccinated against coronavirus reached 31,551,587, the ministry said, urging citizens to register their information at the ministry’s website: https://egcovac.mohp.gov.eg/#/registration to receive the vaccine.
“Coronavirus vaccines contribute to protecting all family members from severe infections with coronavirus and its variants,” the ministry said, addressing citizens.
The ministry also stressed that the Egyptian state spares no effort in providing vaccines to citizens for free within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to protect the health of citizens.
Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the number of COVID-19 infections has decreased in Egypt.
During a phone call with "El Mehwar" channel on Monday, the spokesman said the Health Ministry is making great efforts to achieve "herd immunity" by vaccinating nearly 70% of the citizens.
He further noted that people under the age of 65 should receive a booster dose at least six months after their second dose.
Minister of Higher Education and acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has directed to issue weekly, instead of daily, reports on the number of COVID-19 infection cases and deaths.
Life will go back to normal after vaccinating 70 percent of the Egyptian population; 40 percent have been jabbed thus far, according to the Ministry of Health on March 7.
