CAIRO – 16 March 2022: The Agriculture Committee at the Egyptian Parliament approved a bill, submitted by the government, to re-organize the Zahra Station for breeding purebred Arabian horses.
Member of Parliament Hisham Al-Hosary said that “the current situation is not the best, and we raise our hat to the idea of developing the horse sector and establishing an international station for breeding horses.”
He saluted the Egyptian state for drafting the bill, calling for the bill to be discussed and finalized during the upcoming sessions.
Dr. Mostafa El-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Animal Production, said that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the establishment of the largest horse breeding station in the world in the Administrative Capital.
Al-Sayyad called for the Agriculture Committee to approve the draft law in order to start breeding horses and develop this field, and work on exporting them, noting that this field is very important and needs legislation in order to be developed, explaining that the purebred Arabian horses are not found in all countries, and that Egypt enjoys its existence.
The first article of the draft law states that Al-Zahraa Station for the Breeding of Purebred Arabian Horses is a public economic authority that has a legal personality, based in Cairo Governorate and is affiliated with the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and has the authority to establish other branches, referred to in this law as the station.
