First phase of El-Salam – 10th of Ramadan electric train to operate within days

CAIRO – 14 March 2022: The National Authority for Tunnels confirmed that it plans to start operating the first phase of the El Salam the administrative capital - the 10th of Ramadan electric train project within days.

This phase extends with a length of 70 km and includes 12 stations.

Tests and experiments work on the project are currently in process, and the remaining works in the stations and signaling systems will be completed before the start of operation. The phase will link the administrative capital and the Cairo metro network.

The French company RATP will be responsible for managing and operating the electric train project, that is extending with lengths of 103 km, for 15 years without interfering in determining the price of the ticket, provided that the French company receives an agreement upon material consideration in exchange for management and maintenance in monthly payments.

The electric train project achieves the connection and passenger exchange service with the third line of the subway (Adly Mansour - Cairo University) at Adly Mansour station.
