CAIRO – 14 March 2022: The Ministry of Military Production and U.S. Lockheed Martin Corporation will exchange visits striving to localize modern technology in Egypt as part of sustainable development, according to a Sunday statement.

Minister of Military Production Mohamed Morsy and Lockheed Martin’s Vice Presidents Joseph Rank and Raymond Piselli agreed on regular visits to see technology on the ground and determine areas of cooperation, according to spokesperson of the Ministry of Military Production Mohamed Eid Bakr.

In the meeting, they tackled cooperation in manufacturing C6ISR systems (commad, control, communication, computers, cyber defence, combative and reconnaissance systems) as well as cooperation in software development and engineering.

For his part, Morsy said economic reforms proved Egypt’s growing regional leadership in defense and security, praising the U.S. participation in EDEx 2021.

He added that the ministry’s main role is to supply the Armed Forces and police with weapons, ammunition, and equipment, whereas the surplus production capacities are used in civilian products and national development projects.

Meanwhile, Rank said military cooperation between Egypt and the U.S. is a fundamental component of the strategic partnership for almost 40 years.

Raymond Piselli said Lockheed Martin is interested in cooperating with Egypt since it has huge capacities in the field, applauding EDEX 2021, the biggest event of its kind in Africa where the company was a golden sponsor.

EDEX 2021 was held in November and hosted the pavilions of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, France, United States and South Korea among others. More than 300 companies from 18 countries, including Egypt, exhibited their products at EDEX 2021, which was visited by 76 foreign military delegations.
