CAIRO – 11 March 2022: A team of the Egyptian Red Crescent arrived in Bucharest to participate in the humanitarian efforts on the Romanian-Ukrainian border for a week, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday.
The Egyptian team visited the Romanian Red Cross headquarters in Bucharest, attended a video conference with the International Red Cross, the statement said, adding that the team met with Egyptian Ambassador to Bucharest Muayyed al-Dulai to have the necessary equipment to start their mission in preparation for heading to the border post of Siret, in the north-east of Romania.
The Egyptian team includes Director of the Health Department of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society Mahmoud Tharwat, and supervisor of the Egyptian Red Crescent Operations Room and International Relief Officer Eng. Mostafa Refaat.
The Egyptian embassy in Bucharest said on Wednesday urged all Egyptians who crossed the Ukrainian borders to take the buses heading for Bucharest, after the Romanian authorities decided to secure buses for free to transport those coming from Ukraine at the border access points.
Minister of Immigration and Egyptians’ Affairs Abroad Nabila Makram has said that the Egyptian embassies in Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary have put emergency numbers to follow up on students arriving at the borders of these neighboring countries.
