Egyptian high school graduating seniors to receive tablets supplied by local Samsung plants

CAIRO – 10 March 2022: Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawki said Thursday during the Cabinet's weekly meeting that all tablets to be distributed on high school graduating seniors in September will be supplied by Samsung plants in Egypt.

The minister added that the interactive screens to be installed in public schools will be co-produced by the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and SI Vision Technologies, while the content will be provided by Promethean.

South Korean ambassador to Egypt Hong Jin-Wook said in a press statement in January that a new tablet PC manufacturing facility would be established in Egypt within the existing TV manufacturing factory, this year.

The ambassador added that, currently, around 95% of the construction of tablet PC manufacturing facility is done, mass production is expected to commence soon.

The Tablet PC manufacturing factory will be the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East, he pointed out, elaborating that these “Made in Egypt” tablets are aimed to be exported to other countries.
