CAIRO – 8 March 2022: Armenian Ambassador to Egypt Hrachya Poladyan said that his country appreciates Egypt's key role in the Middle East and the Mediterranean regions, in statements to MENA agency Tuesday.
The ambassador, meanwhile, asserted Egypt's firm role as a mainstay of security and stability in the Middle East.
His remarks came on the occasion of 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Egypt and Armenia, which falls on Wednesday, the Armenian diplomat hailed Egypt's role in combating terrorism along with its mediation in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Libyan crisis.
He also pointed out to the North African country's role in enhancing energy security through the East Mediterranean Gas Forum and the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism, which groups Egypt, Greece and Cyprus.
Efforts are underway to hold the sixth session of the joint Egyptian-Armenian joint committee meetings, he said, noting that they will be held most probably in the second half of this year.
The ambassador, meanwhile, said that several Egyptian-Armenian business forums in the spheres of technology, tourism and education are due to be held within this year.
The Armenian companies gives prior attention to the participation in the industrial exhibitions in Egypt, said the ambassador, noting that there is a great potential for more cooperation with Egypt.
Emphasizing that diplomatic relations started between the two countries 30 years ago, the ambassador said that the Egyptian-Armenian ties date back thousands of years.
In its capacity as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia will continue to exert efforts to support Egypt in signing a free trade agreement with the union in the nearest possible time, said the ambassador.
This agreement will provide new opportunities to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Armenia, he went on to say.
Armenia attaches great importance to promoting cooperation with Egypt in the various spheres, he affirmed.
Talking about Covid-19 pandemic, the ambassador praised Egypt's efforts to combat the coronavirus, a matter which contributed to allowing the Armenian tourists to spend their holidays in the country.
