CAIRO – 7 March 2022: Egypt has witnessed a rise in temperature and instable weather on Sunday, with the Climate Change Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture warned of a severe dust storm to hit different governorates.
The official forecast authority warned citizens that the weather will witness a drop in temperature starting from Monday until Saturday, stressing that they should keep wearing heavy clothes.
In Giza, the governorate warned citizens against winds loaded with sand and dust, and stressed that they should not go out except for necessity, especially those with chronic diseases, allergies and children, and pedestrians should stay away from trees and electricity poles.
A sandstorm hit the Ismailia governorate, causing a decrease in visibility on some highways and desert roads. Police cars were deployed extensively on the roads, in addition to the security pillars. The governorate warned citizens not to exceed the prescribed speeds, and to drive with caution.
Qena governorate witnessed winds laden with dust, and a noticeable rise in temperatures, and the governorate office announced the activation of the operating room and its branches due to the weather, and raising the levels of maximum preparedness in government hospitals.
Major General Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, declared a state of emergency in the governorate, in preparation for weather fluctuations, and said that city heads had been addressed to raise the state of alert in anticipation of rain and torrential rain.
