The Cabinet's media center denied news that gasoline contains manganese and other minerals that cause malfunctions in cars.
In a statement released on Sunday, the center said that it contacted the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources that dismissed such news as baseless.
It explained that all locally-made or imported oil products match quality standards and are free of manganese and other minerals.
The ministry also noted that gasoline is subject to accurate and continuous review and examination before being stored at the main and subsidiary warehouses of its marketing companies.
The center appealed to mass media outlets and social media users to seek accuracy and objectivity and communicate with the bodies concerned before publishing any fake information that could spark public discontent.
