CAIRO – 12 July 2017: Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly and Education Minister Tarek Shawqi discussed on Wednesday a joint plan to provide meals in schools for children in the 2017-2018 school years.
The two officials convened on the fringe of a news conference held at the Ministry of Social Solidarity to declare results of the national survey on drug, alcohol and smoking addiction among high school and technical college students.
The working plan includes detailed measures of accounting for all possible scenarios in order to guarantee the regular circulation of school meals for more than 10 million students, Waly asserted.
In this respect, Waly discussed with the visiting delegation of the World Bank Group means of providing technical support for school meal programs.
This could be done by preparing an agenda on the best international practices in the field of providing school meals, following up and assessing those programs and figuring out the means of providing logistic support to governorates .
