CAIRO – 21 February 2022: Egypt condemned on Monday the Houthi’s “terrorist” targeting of King Abdullah Airport in Jazan in Saudi Arabia, using a booby-trapped drone, which resulted in the injury of a number of innocent civilians, in addition to material losses.

“Egypt reiterates that the repeated targeting of vital civilian facilities, including airports in the Kingdom, and innocent civilians by the Houthi militia is a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Houthi attacks are also a blatant threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom, the safety of civil aviation and the freedom of air navigation.

“Egypt stresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the measures it is taking to confront these despicable terrorist attacks,” the ministry said, stressing the close link between the security and stability of the two brotherly countries.
