MARSA MATROUH, Egypt - 12 July 2017: As many as 239 Egyptians returned home from Libya via Salloum border crossing in the past 24 hours, Matrouh Security Chief General Mokhtar el Senbary has said.

Out of the returnees, 181 Egyptians entered the country legally and 58 illegally, he noted in statements on Wednesday.

Travel procedures of 865 people - 304 Egyptians and 561 Libyans - to Libya have been finalized.

Meanwhile, 88 trucks laden with foodstuffs, construction materials and marble left the crossing to Libya, he said.

Senbary also noted that 91 empty trucks arrived to be loaded with Egyptian commodities.

Libya has been witnessing a rising insurgency by different rebel groups and militias and an increasing use of weapons since the overthrow of slain Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011
