Egypt sees drop in temperature, rainfall as air depression hits on Friday: official

CAIRO – 17 February 2022: Manar Ghanem, a member of the Meteorological Authority's media center, revealed that there is an air depression called the "upper groove" that will hit Egypt on Friday.

And Ghanem continued, during a telephone interview with TV program "From Egypt" on "CBC" channel, that "the upper groove" is not the name of the wave, but rather that it means the extension of the air depression to the upper layers of the atmosphere.

She explained that this situation is very normal given the unstable weather that Egypt is accustomed to in the winter. Ghanem said that the air depression will start from the afternoon of Friday until Sunday, and its peak will be on Saturday, where a thunder rain is expected.

She pointed out that the rain will cover most regions of the country, and its intensity will vary from one governorate to another, and it will reach torrential rains in some governorates, such Upper Egypt.

She added that the temperature in Cairo will drop to 15 degrees.
