Egyptian ministry issues report on progress achieved on self-employment promotion

CAIRO – 15 February 2022: The Ministry of Social Solidarity released Tuesday a report on the progress achieved on "Forsa" program (Arabic for opportunity) concerned with promoting self-employment.

 

The program is funded through a loan by the World Bank and is implemented in eight governorates that are Qalyoubeya, Sharqia, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Menya, Asyut, Sohag, and Luxor.  

 

The report explains that the first phase is about behavior modification and raising awareness on the value of work among the targeted segments living in 273 villages. The number of those who attended such lectures, which amounted to 2,868, is 85,631. The majority were females (63,359), while males were just 22,272.

 

The ministry equally pointed out that the number of beneficiaries who got self-employed nationwide through its programs has recorded 8,118, while that of micro businesses it funded has hit 60,054.
