FM to meet UNFCCC officials as part of preparations for COP 27 hosted by Egypt

CAIRO – 13 February 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry headed Sunday to the German city of Bonn housing the headquarters of the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

As part of Egypt's preparations to host COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh in November, Minister Shokry will hold meetings with the UNFCCC officials to coordinate building on the momentum created by Glasgow's COP 26 to ensure the success of the coming edition of the annual event.

The focus will be on reinvigorating international efforts deployed to combat climate change and achieve coexistence with its impact. That is in addition to securing climate funding, especially to developing countries.
