Sisi reiterates Egypt’s support to Tunisian leadership in measures to protect state, achieve stability

CAIRO – 11 February 2022: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reiterated on Friday Egypt’s support to the Tunisian leadership and government in taking all measures that aim to preserve the Tunisian state and achieve stability.

Sisi made the remarks as he met with Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden on the sidelines of the “One Ocean” Summit held in the French port city of Brest, a statement by the presidential spokesman said.

During the meeting, Sisi stressed Egypt’s trust in the ability of the Tunisian authority under President Kais Saied in crossing the current delicate stage to a future that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Tunisian people.

Sisi asked that his greetings be conveyed to Saied, voicing appreciation of the historic and strong relations binding Egypt and Tunisia.

The Tunisian prime minister conveyed to Sisi the greetings of Tunisian President Kais Saied, stressing Tunisia's pride in the solid and extended ties that bring together the two countries at the official and popular levels.

She also highlighted the Tunisian side's keenness to continue the pace of periodic and intense consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries on regional issues of common concern in facing the various challenges facing the region at the present time.

She expressed appreciation for Egypt's efforts in support of the Tunisian issue and its vital role in maintaining regional security and stability.

The talks discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Tunisia at all levels, especially with regard to facilitating the movement of trade exchange and increasing the volume of inter-investment.

The meeting expressed satisfaction of the level of cooperation and coordination existing between the two countries and affirmed the importance of supporting relations for the benefit of their two peoples.

Sisi and Bouden also exchanged visions on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, especially the developments in the situation in Libya.

In this regard, they agreed to intensify joint coordination to support all efforts aimed at Libya's stability, unity and territorial integrity and the preservation of the Libyan national institutions.
