CAIRO – 2 February 2021: Business tycoon Mohamed al-Amin was referred to the Criminal Court on Saturday over “human trafficking” in a case involving seven young girls whom he allegedly assaulted forcibly.

The case has 13 witnesses who upheld the accusation, in addition to the girls’ testimonies, evidence on Amin’s mobile phone, as well as the reports of Forensic Medicine Authority, the National Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and the Psychological and Social Research Department at the Ministry of Solidarity, which oversees all orphanages in the country.

Amin is a prominent businessman who specialized in media and real estate. He founded an orphanage where the seven girls lived. He reportedly used them for his own sexual gratification and threatened to beat them and expel them out of the institution if they told on him.

The witnesses include investigators in the Department of Combating Illegal Immigration and Human Trafficking at the Ministry of Interior and the admin of a Faceook page called “missing children” in Arabic, who posted an audio of a conversation with one of the girls describing her exploitation by Amin.

Pictures of Amin with the girls were found on his phone, with which it was proven he went to the orphanage every day for several days.

Meanwhile, the National Council for Motherhood and Childhood reported that the girls suffer from psychological disorders because of the abuse.
