CAIRO – 26 January 2022: Egypt is witnessing a sharp drop in temperatures, as a very cold weather prevails across the country, accompanied by rains of varied intensity.
Wednesday sees the coldest weather in this winter season so far, where wind activity increases the sense of cold.
Snow falls on the Catherine Heights and the Red Sea Mountains, and very cold weather prevails throughout, and the feeling of cold weather increases due to wind activity that reaches 45 km/h.
The temperatures drop dramatically, as the lowest in Cairo today drops to 6 °C, the lowest temperatures in northern Upper Egypt reach 3°C, and St. Catherine records for the first time 3°C below zero.
A state of unstable weather conditions is witnessed Wednesday, with medium to heavy rainfall, sometimes thunderstorms, that may be accompanied by hailstones on the northern coastal governorates of Salloum, Matrouh, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Dakahlia, Damietta, Port Said and Arish.
Light to medium rain expected on the south of Lower Egypt, on the western, Menoufia and Sharqia, and light rain.

Cairo sees highs of 12°C and lows of 06°C
Alexandria sees highs of 13°C and lows of 09°C
Matrouh sees highs of 12°C and lows of 07°C
Sohag sees highs of 15°C and lows of 04°C
Qena sees highs of 18°C and lows of 05°C
Aswan sees highs of 18°C and lows of 07°C
