CAIRO – 25 January 2022: Egypt has witnessing a severe cold wave for the past days, which is expected to continue until the end of January, according to forecast specialist Dr. Manar Ghanem.
Ghanem, who is a also a member of the media center at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), said that the wave will be accompanied by decline in temperature, and wind activity, which results in a cold weather at night that feels below 6 degrees in Cairo.
“It is expected that at the beginning of February we will begin to feel moderation in the atmosphere so that the degrees will return to their normal rates,” Ghanem added in statements to Egypt Today.
January is known to be the coldest month of the year, a source said, pointing out that with the beginning of February, the weather is expected to improve so that the degrees return to their levels, with the maximum in Cairo, for example, ranging between 18 and 19 and the minimum between 10 and 11 degrees.
The Meteorological Authority expects, Tuesday, to witness a decrease in temperature, so that cold weather will prevail during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts and northern Upper Egypt, moderate on southern Sinai and the mountain ranges of the Red Sea and southern Upper Egypt, very cold at night in all parts, reaching the point of frost on central Sinai.
The Meteorological Authority stated that light to medium rain will be witnessed in areas of the northern coasts and Lower Egypt at intermittent periods.

Cairo 15 records highs of degrees and lows of 08 degrees
Alexandria records highs of 15 and lows of 08 degrees
Matrouh records highs of 15 degrees and lows of 07 degrees
Sohag records highs of 16 degrees and lows of 05 degrees
Qena records highs of 17 degrees and lows of 05 degrees
Aswan records highs of 20 degrees and lows of 07 degrees,
Saint Catherine records highs of 10 degrees and lows of zero.
