Egypt opens int'l date palm festival in Siwa oasis

CAIRO - 22 January 2022: Matrouh Governor Khaled Shuaib opened on Saturday the fifth edition of Egypt's International Date Palm Festival in the Siwa oasis.

The festival is organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.

The festival sends a strong message that Egypt will always be a country of safety and security, he said, adding that it comes as part of the State’s plan to upgrade the industry of dates.

Shuaib made reference to a presidential initiative to plant 2.5 million palm trees.
