CAIRO - 20 January 2022: President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that the stability of Libyan internal situation is a priority for Egypt and , therefore, Egypt will continue its tireless efforts with the Libyan parties to hold national elections.
President Sisi’s comments were given during his bilateral meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Cairo on Thursday, said Egypt Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement.
President Sisi affirmed Egypt's permanent support for all mechanisms that guarantee the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula, Rady added, noting that both Presidents held a mini-summit that was followed by an expanded meeting.
On the bilateral cooperation level, both presidents discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, especially in the development of the railway sector, electric vehicle industry in Egypt, communications, information technology, digitization, tourism, infrastructure, and in mining sector Rady said.
He added that both sides tackled ways for South Korea to engage in implementing a decent life initiative, as well as cooperation in the field of energy of all kinds.
President Sisi and President Moon also discussed ways of enhancing military and security cooperation , especially in joint manufacturing, transfer and localization of technology as Egypt plays a pivotal role in the region and its responsibility to achieve stability, security and combat terrorism.
During his meeting with South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in on Thursday at the Egyptian Presidential Palace in Cairo, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that he discussed opportunities for potential partnership between the Egyptian companies operating in Africa and Korean companies, in addition to promoting investment in Africa, especially in the field of infrastructure.
President Sisi added in his speech at a press conference held with President Moon that this cooperation would come in light of the Continental Free Trade Area to significantly increase “the flow of investment and trade between the African countries and the international community.”
South Korean President Moon said in his speech that Egypt enjoys important historical and geographical advantages, adding that the comprehensive partnership between Egypt and South Korea enjoys historic momentum.
He added that his country shares experience and exchange policies with Egypt to expand the cooperative partnership and promote sustainable development, stressing the importance of moving forward to concluding trade agreements and expanding the horizons of cooperation in eco-friendly transport and marine and space development.
“It is my first visit as the President of South Korea in 16 years,” he said, adding that he agreed with President Sisi to look forward to enhancing the partnership in the field of sustainable development and renewable energy.
He added that his country would participate in cooperating in dealing with the climate change crisis, particularly amid Egypt’s hosting of the COP 27. He noted that President Abel Fattah El Sisi has called upon North Korea to peace dialogue with the North neighboring.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct a joint feasibility study on the trade and economic partnership between the two countries.

A memorandum of understanding on financial cooperation with the Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund(EDCF) for the years 2022 to 2026, with a value of $1 billion.

A document between the governments of Egypt and South Korea regarding a 251-million-dollar loan from the EDCF to upgrade the Egypt-Luxor-High Dam railway.

Mutual letters regarding a non-refundable grant of $7.9 million.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Egyptian First Lady Entissar El Sisi received South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his spouse at the Egyptian Presidential Palace, Al-Ittihadiya, on Thursday. South Korean President Moon Jae-in arrived in Egypt on Wednesday in an official visit that lasts until Friday as part of a Middle East tour that included UAE and Saudi Arabia.
President Moon Jae-in’s visit to Egypt is the first by a South Korean president in 16 years and comes in light of the partnership that has signed between Cairo and Seoul in 2016 during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Seoul.
This visit was scheduled to be made in March 2021 but it has been postponed due to coronavirus, S.Korean ambassador to Egypt Hong Jin-wook said in a press conference on Sunday.
