Egypt allocates 3.37 Bln for environmental improvement program

CAIRO – 18 January 2022: The Egyptian government allocated investments amounting to 3.37 billion pounds during the new fiscal year 2021/2022, for the Environmental Improvement Program, which comes as one of the five main programs for local development.

 

Environmental improvement comes as one of the five sub-programs of the local development program, which includes roads and bridges, extension and strengthening of electricity networks, improvement of the environment, security, firefighting and traffic, in addition to a program to support the needs of local units.

 

Local development programs aim to expand youth employment, develop small projects and activate the investment wheel, in addition to raising the efficiency of local community management, encouraging popular participation and integrating gender issues in development and planning, as well as preserving natural resources and environmental sanitation.

 

In this regard, et reviews below some of the allocations for each governorate, in order to be invested in environmental improvement purpose:

 

1- A total of L.E. 278.8 million were allocated for Assiut governorate.

 

2- A total of L.E. 263.7 million were allocated for Al-Buhaira Governorate.

 

3- A total of L.E. 251 million were allocated for Aswan Governorate.

 

4- A total of L.E. 187.5 million were allocated for Alexandria governorate.

 

5- A total of L.E. 168.2 million were allocated for Giza Governorate.

 

6- A total of L.E. 93.3 million were allocated for the Red Sea Governorate.

 

7- A total of L.E. 65.9 million were allocated for South Sinai governorate.

 

8-  A total of L.E. 60.2 million were allocated for Suez Governorate.

 

9- A total of L.E. 48.1 million were allocated for Cairo Governorate.
