In pics: Egyptians flood social media with snow-covered Alexandria pics, say ‘Europe-like’ scene

CAIRO – 20 December 2021: Streets of Mediterranean city of Alexandria were snow-covered on Sunday, as temperature dropped in a rare event that overwhelmed social media posts.

Citizens shared pics of snow covering cars and roads as they expressed their excitement with the rare scene that was “Europe-like,” according to many posts.

 

 

 

Alexandria is currently witnessing unstable weather, accompanied by light to medium rainfall, a significant drop in temperature and strong winds.

Alexandria and Dekheila ports were closed temporarily due to the weather conditions. Study at schools was also suspended until the weather improves.

Several environmentalists and observers explained the extreme changes in weather in different seasons in Egypt to the impact of the climate change, which is affecting the whole world, suggesting that Egypt will witness a very cold weather this winter.
