CAIRO - 13 December 2021: The US embassy in Libya welomed the arrival of the Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Stephanie Williams in Tripoli to support holding presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.
In a Tweet Monday, the US embassy in Libya reiterated the US' full support to Libyans in their pursuit to fair presidential and parliamentary elections.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced the appointment of Stephanie Williams of the United States as his Special Adviser on Libya on Dec 6.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said William willl lead good offices and mediation efforts and engagements with Libyan regional and international stakeholders to implement the three intra-Libyan dialogue tracks - political, security and economic - and support the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya.
