CAIRO – 30 November 2021: South Korea has developed cooperation with Egypt in various fields since President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit in 2016, said South Korean Ambassador in Cairo Hong Jin Wook.
Ambassador Wook said that a total of 14 South Korean companies are participating in International Defense and Military Industries Exhibition (EDEX 2021) currently held in Egypt.
Since Sisi’s visit to South Korea in 2016, the two countries started what is known as a "comprehensive cooperative partnership" to strengthen bilateral relations, as Korea and Egypt developed cooperation in various fields such as transportation, energy, education and the information technology sector, telecommunications and other sectors.
He added, "This year in particular, we have seen our cooperative relations expand toward defense industry through a series of reciprocal visits by high-ranking officials including visits by the South Korean Defense Minister and Defense Procurement Minister to Egypt as well as visits by Egyptian counterparts to Korea."
The Korean ambassador considered that this is leading many Korean companies to participate in the International Defense and Military Industries Exhibition (EDEX 2021).
He expressed his hope that the Korean participants will have as many opportunities as possible to meet their potential Egyptian business partners during the exhibition and obtain fruitful results.
