CAIRO - 21 November 2021:  Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli called for optimum reuse of agricultural wastewater as it comes in terms of the state’s plan to preserve water resources, said the cabinet in a statement on Sunday.

At a meeting held with Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Atti and other officials at the ministry, Madbouli was updated on a proposal submitted by the ministry on reusing agricultural wastewater.

The proposal aims to achieve optimal utilization of about 3 billion cubic meters of agricultural wastewater, rather than flowing into the sea and lakes. The proposal was submitted after studying the environmental impact, which contributes to saving about 2 billion m3/year, the statement said.

On October 17, 2021, the Prime Minister reviewed mechanisms for the optimal use of agricultural wastewater after treatment.
