Japan Provides Egypt with AstraZeneca vaccines via COVAX

CAIRO – 19 November 2021: The Japanese government announced, Friday that it will provide Egypt with AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines via COVAX.
 
 The Japanese Embassy in Cairo said that the shipment to Egypt comes within a framework of the friendship relations between the two countries as it will be the first Japanese shipment to Africa.
 
The Japanese-made vaccines will arrive after finalizing the logistic preparations.
 
The total number of those who have received COVID-19 vaccines reached 41 million citizens so far, said Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar in media remarks to Al-Haya Al-Youm program on “Al Haya” T.V. on Wednesday evening.
 
This number stands for those who are fully vaccinated and those who administered one dose, he said, adding that this number is expected to increase before the end of the year.
 
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday issued directives for expanding COVID-19 vaccination campaigns for citizens and facilitating relevant procedures.
 
Sisi also instructed to proceed with awareness-raising campaigns for all citizens as regards anti-coronavirus precautionary measures, especially in crowded places like government bodies, universities, and schools.
 
Presidential Adviser for Health Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag el Din said on Wednesday that Egypt currently has a large number of COVID-19 vaccines, noting that the Egyptian government has allocated all the necessary funds to obtain these vaccines.
 
He stressed that all types of vaccines have been provided in Egypt.
