CAIRO – 16 November 2021: The aid caravan generated by Long Live Egypt Fund and Orman Charity Association arrived in Aswan Tuesday morning reaching 14 villages, which have 2,000 families who fled their houses because of thundershowers that occurred on Friday.

The aid consists of 49 tons of food, 2,000 mattresses, 2,000 carpets, 2,000 blankets, 2,000 quilts, and 110 beds. The villages are Abou El Rish North, Abou El Rish South, Khour Awada, El Shebeka, Salwa South, Ebrim, Al Shalal, Western Aswan, Aaqab, El Seil El Reify, Al Hakroub, El Gezira, Kima, Geziret Heisa, and Al Kobaneya.

The government has also pledged LE2,000 ($125) to each unfortunate family in addition to LE250 ($15.6) per individual.

Scorpions stung Saturday 503 citizens – killing three - living near the mountainous areas of Aswan as thundershowers hit the governorate pushing them to leave their nests.

Representative of the Ministry of Health and Population in Aswan told press that 89 cases are receiving treatment in Aswan University Hospital, 118 others are in Kom Ombo Central Hospital, while the rest are in the hospitals of Drau, Nasr al-Nuba, Edfu, and Abou Simbel.

Aswan's municipal authority is currently screening buildings to determine those in need of restoration, and others that are at risk of collapse. However, damaged buildings that are part of slum areas will not be rebuilt so that residents would be given alternative housing units.
