On Friday, European Council President Charles Michel hailed Egypt's efforts to halt illegal immigration since 2016, as he met with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Paris on the sidelines of an international conference on Libya.
At the Visegrád Group (V4) summit in Hungary last month, Sisi said he appreciates V4 help in combating illegal immigration but added that the phenomenon reflects the poor conditions of human rights in the region.
