CAIRO - 12 November 2021: US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry congratulated Egypt on hosting the COP27 climate conference in 2022, on behalf of  African countries.
 
On his Twitter account, John Kerry expressed his country’s keenness to work with Egypt and the UAE, which was selected to host COP 28 in 2023, in carrying forward the progress of Glasgow COP 26.
 
On the sidelines of COP26 climate summit, Egyptian Minister of Environment Yassmine Fouad met with Kerry, who congratulated as well, said Egyptian Ministry of Environment in a statement on Friday.
 
The US Envoy for climate also said that holding the COP 27 in Egypt will bring several benefits to the climate change issue globally because of Egypt's pivotal role, the statement said.
 
Fouad highlighted the importance of the US role in supporting climate action, especially when it comes to the issues of financing, mobilizing efforts and exchanging experiences to address the impacts of climate change.
