CAIRO – 10 July 2017: The Egyptian community in the United States of America has called for a stand in front of the United Nations headquarters to denounce the Turkish and Qatari position and to declare their full support for Egyptian army and government.

"The Egyptian community in New York stands to declare its total rejection for killing the innocent, offering condolences to the martyrs’ families," said Hebi Hilal, one of those who called for the move.

The attendees vowed that “The Egyptian people will not forget the blood of those martyrs and there will be a response to the Qatari betrayal.”

The move was organized and attended by Nabil Majla, President of the Egyptian Association for all Egyptians, Nasser Saber, President of the Egyptian American Association for Entrepreneurship and many other active personalities in New York.

Such incident happened in the light of recent Arab diplomatic crisis, in which the coalition parties, KSA, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorist groups.

As mentioned on the BBC website in early June 2017, the oil and gas-rich state of Qatar has long practice of an ambitious foreign policy, among which there were two key issues that angered its neighbors the most. First is the Qatari support for Islamic groups such as the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, while the other reason lies in Qatari relations with Shiite Iran.

The crisis started when a Qatar news agency website published a story that expressed criticism for the U.S. “hostility” towards Iran, while calling the Islamic republic a "big power in the stabilization of the region." The incident provided a spark for regional retaliation against Qatar, which said that Qatar was a victim of hackers who provoked a "campaign of lies."
