CAIRO – 9 November 2021: An Egyptian Court sentenced three defendants to life, 15 years in prison, after being convicted of raping a lady in Matrouh governorate in 2015.
Two of the defendants were sentenced in absentia due to their escape.
The convicts were also suspects in the famous case known as “Fairmont rape case,” which the prosecution temporarily closed due to insufficient evidence.
The suspects were ordered released after being detained for months pending investigations over committing alleged gang rape at the luxury Fairmont Hotel in Cairo in 2014.
Last April, the prosecution announced that the extensive investigations into the Fairmont rape case given the accompanying recordings, testimonies and reports led to proving accusations against the same three defendants in another rape incident, during which they raped a lady in northern coast in 2015.
