President Sisi checks on Iraqi PM after failed assassination attempt

CAIRO - 7 Novemebr 2021: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Sunday telephoned Iraqi Prime Minister Moustafa al Kadhimi to check on him after a failed attempt on his life earlier in the day, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Sisi wished the Iraqi premier and people security, stability and peace.

Kadhimi was grateful for Sisi's kind gesture believing it reflected strong and historical ties between the two Arab countries.

He also wished the Egyptian government and people further progress and peace.

Kadhimi has survived an assassination attempt when a drone laden with explosives targeted his house inside the Green Zone in Baghdad at dawn.
