Egypt condemns Niger terror attack

CAIRO - 6 February 2021: Egypt condemned in a Friday statement the terror attack that rocked a remote area of southwest Niger that left dozens dead.

Egypt also asserted its support for Niger in its efforts to combat terrorism. 

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry offered its sincere condolences to Niger and the victims’ families, wishing speedy recovery for the wounded.

No group has claimed responsibility for the assault. A local affiliate of Islamic State has killed hundreds of civilians in a series of attacks in the same area this year despite government efforts to regain control.
