Netherlands PM express appreciation for Egypt’s political efforts in MENA region

CAIRO – 1 November 2021:  Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi meet, Monday with Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte on the sidelines the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), According to Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady.

He added that both officials discussed ways to boost relations especially in trade, tourism and immigration in addition to the existing cooperation in the field of water management.

 

Sisi and Rutte also discussed benefiting from the Dutch expertise in projects related to water systems, Irrigation and agriculture, as well as in the field of port management and strengthening the existing cooperation between the Suez Canal and the Port of Rotterdam.

Both officials also discussed ways to enhance tripartite cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands in Africa, in light of the mutual interest of the two sides in supporting development in the continent.

During the meeting, Rutte noted to his country’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt to maintain regional peace and security in the Middle East and Africa.

He expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian efforts to reach political solutions to the various political conflicts within the MENA region.

 President Abdel Fattah El Sisi speech in the World Leaders Summit, which is part of the high-level segment during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), expected to shed light on Egypt’s stance and its pillars towards climate change, According to Presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady.

In statements, Monday, Rady said that Sisi will be representing the countries of the African continent as Egypt is about to host the next conference on climate change (COP27) next year.

Rady added that the file of climate change focuses on two aspects: the responsibility of industrial countries blamed for the greenhouse gas emissions that led to the rise in the temperature of Earth; and the suffering of developing nations from the repercussions.

Sisi is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with world leaders, including with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Rady said.

It will be a strategic one-on-one meeting that will tackle relations between Egypt and Britain at the levels of security, information, defense, politics, trade and economy, the spokesman added.
