CAIRO – 10 July 2017: Egypt currently ranks number 10 out of 133 countries for military power, according to U.S. military monitoring website Global Fire Power.
Ranking does not rely on the total number of weapons available to any one country, but rather focuses on weapon diversity. The manpower is a key consideration in the ranking process. NATO allies receive a slight bonus due to the theatrical sharing of resources.
Egypt is considered the first military power in the Arab world and Africa with progress in the final classification of armies.
The U.S. army kept its place as the first military power worldwide, with Russia coming in as second.
Recently, the Egyptian Armed Forces have engaged in arms deals with a number of foreign countries to increase its military power.
These deals took place between Egypt and several countries such as France and Russia, and included discussions on importing French and Russian aircrafts.
