CAIRO - 31 October 2021: Egyptian Minister of Environment Yassmine Fouad headed for Glasgow to participate in the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) sue to convene October 31 to November 12.

The COP26 climate conference is an important step to finalize the controversial issues to reach an action plan to achieve the desired goals of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, said Fouad in a statement issued by the ministry on Sunday.

An Egyptian exhibition will be held on the sidelines of the conference to present success stories that have been made to address the effects of climate change through national projects in the sectors of renewable energy, sustainable transport, agriculture and irrigation, she added.

In early October, US Climate Envoy John Kerry revealed that Egypt has been already chosen as the nominee to host the next session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 27) in 2022.

This comes as a country is chosen each year to represent a different region of the world and host the COP meeting as the president of the conference.

At a virtual meeting of the Heads of State and Government on Climate Change on slides of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 76) earlier this month, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called for the necessity to seriously deal with any unilateral measures that contribute to exacerbating the consequences of climate change.
