EgyptAir announces falsity of threat message found on flight to Moscow

CAIRO – 27 October 2021: EgyptAir announced Wednesday the falsity of the threat message about flight MS279 that was heading to Moscow.

EgyptAir jet A220-300 had to return to Cairo International Airport 22 minutes after the take-off Wednesday after the handwritten message was found on one of its seats. However, another jet was prepared for passengers to board as the initial one had to be examined carefully.

In August, direct flights from Russia to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada airports resumed, after the suspension - imposed in 2015 due to a Russian plane crash over Sinai - had been lifted.
