CAIRO – 20 October 2021: 19 people died, Wednesday after a truck and a passenger microbus collided on the new central ring road in the direction coming from 6th of October City to Fayoum, in Greater Cairo.
Ambulances and members of the road rescue operations moved to the accident location, as all victims were hospitalized to the nearest facilities.
Egypt’s prosecution also moved to the accident location and started an investigation to find out the reasons that led to the collation. They questioned number of eye witness.
According to the initial results the truck driver, lost control over the wheels due to high speed, and veered off his course to hit the microbus in the opposite direction.
All passengers were reported dead, along with the truck driver. Also, the concrete barrier in the middle of the road and three lighting poles were completely destroyed.
Number of the victims were identified as the security forces contacted their families; while other victims still anonymous.
Forces of the General Directorate of Traffic removed the accident effects from the road and returned traffic to normal after stopping for a short time.
