CAIRO – 19 October 2021: Egyptian Naval Force executed joint exercises with each of Greek, Spanish, and American counterparts in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
The vessels that took part in exercises with Greece in the Mediterranean are Egyptian frigate "Alexandria" and Greek frigate "HS Kanaris". The Egyptian frigate is an Oliver Hazard Perry-class, while Greece's is an Elli-class.
As for exercises with the US Navy, the vessels were Egypt's frigate "Taba," which is also Oliver Hazard Perry Class, and U.S. Arleigh Burke-class destroyer "USS O'Kane".
With regard to exercises with Spain, also in the Red Sea, Egypt contributed by F951 frigate "Zafer" - Type 053H Jianghu Class - joining Spanish Santa Maria-class frigate "ESPS Victoria."
"The exercises included different combat activities pertinent to reinforcing maritime security measures in the military theaters of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. The target is assessing surface and air threats, and training on coherent work within a joint force commissioned to preserve maritime security in face of threats to international navigation, and international trade blow," the statement issued Tuesday by the Egyptian Armed Forces read.
