CAIRO – 15 October 2021: Egypt’s Ministry of health has allocated seven centers to treat genetic diseases, according to spokesperson of Ministry of Health Khaled Megahed.
He added in statements, Friday, that other centers all over the country to be allocated for the same purpose soon.
Megahed added that these centers are to provide free treatment and periodic follow-up services for children suffering from any of the genetic diseases, aiming to help them live a normal life.
Other health centers were also allocated for receiving COVID-19 vaccine all over the govornorates.
In Previous statements Megahed said Egypt has secured 60.5 million doses of the Astrazeneca, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer over the past period.
He added that 5 million Moderna vaccine doses will soon arrive in Egypt.
The US announced on Thursday providing over $5 million in urgent Coronavirus assistance for Egypt in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation and Ministry of Health.
This assistance will support health workers administering vaccines and strengthen the supply chain of vaccines to ensure equitable access throughout Egypt.
The funding will also strengthen the ability of Egypt’s health system to prevent, detect, and respond to the coronavirus and to future public health threats.
“This additional $5 million in coronavirus support reaffirms the US Government’s commitment to support Egypt through the global health crisis,” US Ambassador Jonathan Cohen said.
“The United States and Egypt have been working side-by-side to fight coronavirus. At the outset of the pandemic, Egypt sent medical supplies to the United States. And last week, I was pleased to welcome the arrival of 1.6 million Pfizer vaccine doses.”
