CAIRO – 1 October 2021: Libya’s Afriqiyah Airways launched a direct flight to the Cairo International Airport after a hiatus that has extended for eight years, said Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.

In a tweet on Thursday, Dbeibeh said the step will alleviate the travel burden on Libyan people’s shoulders, promising to exert more in this regard.

“We will not let you down,” Dbeibeh said in the tweet, addressing people.

Direct flights between Libya and the Cairo-based airport have been suspended since 2014 over insecure situations in Libya.

According to Ahram, Afriqiyah Airways will operate nine flights to Cairo per week.
