CAIRO – 28 September 2021: Youth Love Egypt Foundation presented a design at the tenth Sustainable Cities Online Conference on Tuesday, where climate experts from the Middle East and North Africa answered the question: what is your vision for your city in 2030?
Ahmed Fathy, the head of Youth Love Egypt Foundation, made the presentation that explained what a sustainable city is like in ten years from now. He also tackled Egypt’s urban expansions in terms of renewable energy such as wind farms and other plants.
The design included the Giza Pyramids, Mediterranean cities of Egypt, and the most sustainable city in Egypt: New Alamein.
New Alamein conforms to the standards of sustainable cities, Fathy said, adding that in 2030, there would be renewable energy resources, zero-carbon transportation, and solar power plants in the desert areas at the Mediterranean coast.
He also spoke of climate adaptation on the Egyptian Mediterranean shore, as it is the most vulnerable in Egypt to climate change in the coming years.
Youth Love Egypt Foundation is carrying out several projects to adapt to climate change, most importantly the Nile Tree project and the Environmental Pioneers program. Such projects contribute to improving energy, creating better opportunities for the youth, and raising awareness on sustainable cities and renewable energy.
