CAIRO - 10 September 2020: Egypt has welcomed the formation of the new Lebanese government heading by Najib Mikati, wishing Lebanese people to end their crisis and to restore security and stability, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez in a statement.
Forming a new government is an important step to achieve the aspirations of the Lebanese people towards ending their crisis in the country, achieving the desired economic reform, distancing Lebanon from all regional conflicts, Hafez said.
He stressed the need to allow the new government to achieve these goals and get Lebanon out of its crisis in accordance with its constitutional powers.
Lebanon announced the formation of a new government as per a decree signed between President Michel Aoun and PM-designate Najib Mikati, in the presence of House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday.
The new government includes 24 ministers, said Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Mahmoud Makkieh.
