CAIRO - 2 September 2021: Jordan's King Abdullah II affirmed his country's keenness to benefit from the Egyptian developmental efforts as he met on Thursday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Sisi and King Abdullah II held bilateral talks ahead of a tripartite summit in Cairo along with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas scheduled for Thursday.
King Abdullah affirmed Jordan's willingness to benefit from the Egyptian developmental efforts through the exchange of expertise and joint investments in light of Egypt's comprehensive development path and mega national projects, Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Radi said in a statement.
Sisi, during the meeting, hailed the firm brotherly relations between Egypt and Jordan as they have reached an advanced stage on all levels, the presidential spokesman said.
The president affirmed Egypt's keenness to enhance these relations in a way that achieves the interests of both countries and their peoples.
This includes the relations on the bilateral level and also in terms of the trilateral mechanism of cooperation along with Iraq, especially on the economic and commercial levels, Sisi explained.
The president hailed the efforts made by the Jordanian government in providing care to the Egyptian community in Jordan
For his part, King Abdullah voiced Jordan's deep appreciation of Egypt on the official and popular levels.
He also expressed appreciation of the extended relations linking the two sisterly countries.
Sisi and King Abdullah discussed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the level of ongoing coordination between the two countries, the spokesperson said.
They affirmed the importance of boosting economic relations and trade exchange between the two countries in a way that goes in line with the level of their political relations and historic ties.
The two leaders also called for boosting cooperation between the relevant bodies in both countries in terms of facing the coronavirus pandemic.
The bilateral talks also included the recent developments in the region, especially the situation in Lebanon, the spokesperson said.
The two leaders also discussed the developments of the Middle East peace process and the ongoing coordination between Egypt and Jordan in this regard.
King Abdullah, for his part, hailed the Egyptian efforts to establish ceasefire between Israelis and Palestinians and the Egyptian initiative for the reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
The two sides also affirmed the need to intensify the international efforts to implement the peace process and resume the negotiations with the aim of reaching a settlement to the Palestinian crisis based on the international legitimacy resolutions.
Sisi earlier on Thursday held bilateral talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
During the meeting, Sisi affirmed the need for the resumption of negotiations and the consolidation of truce between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
