Hamburg - 9 July 2017 : German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Saturday that "deep differences" remain between her and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after they met at the G20 summit.
Turkey's sweeping arrests of alleged state enemies after last year's coup attempt, and a dispute centred on a NATO base "are developments which I of course raised that show deep differences," she said. "And we didn't sweep those under the table."
