CAIRO – 27 August 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi has thanked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her efforts and cooperation during her term in office, which helped boosting partnership between Egypt and Germany at the political, economic and trade levels.
In his speech G20 Compact with Africa summit via videoconference on Friday, President Sisi wished Merkel success in all her future steps and plans.
The G20 Compact with Africa summit was initiated under the German G20 Presidency to promote private investment in Africa, including in infrastructure.
The G20 Compact with Africa summit primary objective is to increase attractiveness of private investment through substantial improvements of the macro, business and financing frameworks.
It brings together reform-minded African countries, international organizations and bilateral partners from G20 and beyond to coordinate country-specific reform agendas, support respective policy measures and advertise investment opportunities to private investors.
The summit came with the participation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel along with a number of African countries’ presidents and government leaders and members of the G20 group.
Presidents of a number of international institutions which are partners in the initiative attended.
Sisi’s participation in the G20 Compact with Africa summits comes as they represent an important international forum for continuous communication with the G20 group, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The summits also represent a distinguished platform for explaining the Egyptian experience and developmental achievements Egypt has achieved over the past years, according to Radi.
