CAIRO – 25 August 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed, Wednesday to integrate El Alamein Airport project with the State’s plan to support the tourism and civil aviation sector; as part of the efforts made to develop Egypt’s northwestern coast.
During meeting with Commander of the Air Force Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ehab el Far, and Deputy Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority for the Northern and Western Region Ahmed el Azzazi, along with other senior commanders and heads of major Egyptian contracting companies, Sisi followed up with all updates regarding the instruction of the Airport.
According to Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady, the aim of this move is to attract various types of domestic and foreign investments especially amid the increasing growth in the region, which has been reflected in the establishment of the New Delta project and setting up extended urban communities.
The meeting highlighted El Alamein International Airport development project, and the establishment of a smart city that will be affiliated with the airport.
President Sisi was briefed on infrastructure elements that contribute to the management of airports and smart cities through the use of communication technologies, information technology and digital transformation.
Last July, President Sisi made an inspection tour to be briefed on the latest development of constructing Egypt’s City of Arts in El Alamein.
President Sisi listened to a detailed explanation from Minister of Housing Asem El-Gazzar about the construction rates of the project.
The City of Arts is a cultural outlet for the residents of Mediterranean cities of El Alamein and the Northern Coast on an area of 260 acres.
The city includes complexes for cinemas, restaurants, an open Roman theater for concerts and musical performances equipped with advanced technologies, and an opera house, in addition to training halls and exhibition halls.
