Gov't plans to provide 950K jobs, reducing unemployment to 7.3%

CAIRO – 24 August 2021: The government plans to provide 950,000 job opportunities to raise the number of employed Egyptians to 28 million, reducing the number of the unemployed to 2.2 million at 7.3 percent of the total workforce.

Below are some figures about the targets of the government in reducing unemployment:

- 950,000 job opportunitiesIncreasing the employed to 28 millions

- Stabilizing the number of the unemployed at 2.2 millions

- Increasing female workers from 16 percent to 22 percent of the total workforce

- Reducing unemployment amongst holders of university degrees in the total workforce from 46 percent to 38 percent
