CAIRO – 19 August 2021: Head of the Egyptian-Japanese Schools Unit at the Ministry of Education and Technical Education Malek al-Refai stated Wednesday in a phone-in that the number of those schools will be raised from 43 to 48 in academic year 2021/2022.
Subsequently, the number of students at the Egyptian-Japanese Schools will become 11,000 up from 10,000.
Refai added that some activities distinct to such schools will be introduced in 35 regular public schools.
Since the launching of the project in 2016, the goal has been establishing 100 Egyptian Japanese Schools, and implementing some of their activities in another 100 public schools.
The existing Egyptian-Japanese Schools are currently dispersed among 25 governorates (out of 27), including one that has been recently accomplished in North Sinai's Arish city.
The curricula delivered at those schools are Egyptian. Yet, the holistic system is the Japanese one dubbed Tokkatsu, which is a kind of student activity that builds the students’ character to be independent and positive.
